The Cosmic Serpent - The DNA - Correspondences and Connections

Ayahuasca is, botanically and chemically speaking, the most complex of all hallucinogens. There are almost fifty some different species of plants known by the name of ayahuasca. Not every one grows in the same place, so it is important to know all of them to be able to prepare the mixture and tea.
Carlos Shuma, a shaman, explained to Jeremy Narby that ayahuasca makes the "spirits" come to the shamans and give them all possible explanations and correct answers to their questions in any field of knowledge: arts, building techniques, technology, astronomy, sculpture, plants and how to cure diseases with them. The art of asking has its secrets. Similarly to the Chinese "I-Ching", THE BOOK OF CHANGES, the questions have to be asked succinctly and straight, and address specifically each and every issue to be presented to the "maninkare" so that they are comprehended and addressed wisely.
Jeremy Narby formulated a hypothesis suggesting a demonstrable connection between the active components in ayahuasca and the DNA contained in nerve cells of the human brain. This led him to study molecular biology.

THE DNA

Narby found, following a hard path of studies and researches, that the DNA probably corresponds to the "essences" - the "maninkare" - with which the shamans communicate with each other and from which they take their KNOWLEDGE. Up to now, the so-called modern biology has contradicted the anthropologist. That "modernity" holds as a dogma that Nature does not have an intelligence, thus it is CANNOT COMMUNICATES"!
However, that "modernity" is a heritage from the 18th and 19th centuries, which were gagged by Religion, which shut the up naturalists, forbidding them to say anything which was contrary to what is written in the Bible or that could pose a threat to the total veracity of their texts. This is no news, all one has to do is check religion's meddling into the history of sciences! Unfortunately, that attitude became a materialistic tradition which lingers on till nowadays!

The shamans' daily diet held the anthropologist attention, because of its efficiency. When the shamans retire into the forest, they virtually live on bananas and fish. Those are food which are very rich in serotonin. The long period under the hallucinogens effect diminished that neurotransmitter concentration in the brain. His colleagues, also anthropologists, unaware of that, call that wise diet "irrational taboos!"

The shamans insist on reaffirming the INTELLIGENCE of the "cosmic serpents" and the fact that they maintain an intelligent dialogue with them. Most interesting is that women can do that naturally, without consuming any of the hallucinogens, acquiring the same benefits and knowledge so hardly sought after by the shamans through their Spartan way of life

The reason for that may be that, in the end, all women are BELOVED DAUGHTERS OF EVE.

If the shamans can communicate with the DNA of the hallucinogenic plants and take the KNOWLEDGE from them, it is obvious those plants DNA are responsive to the shamans DNA. All living creatures are animated by then, are they? The shamans have already known for many thousand years the secret of DNA, which they call YOSHI.


Mythology and molecules

Jeremy Narby became a scholar. As a good researcher, he knew how to search out every related knowledge field and this led him to formulate his hypothesis with confidence. He had in mind some papers by a colleague of his, the anthropologist Michael Harner. In an academic report, Harner told his own experience with ayahuasca in 1968.
The anthropologist found himself in a world inhabited by "bird-headed people and other creatures similar to reptilian dragons, and they explained to me they were the real gods of those worlds". Harner also found jay-headed people with human bodies looking a lot like the bird-headed gods depicted in paintings found in ancient Egyptian tombs. Then, he talked to gigantic reptilian creatures, which told him they commanded those visions from the depths of his brain. They did more: they showed scenes of the Earth in times prior to life existence and showed him how life came to exist in the planet, originating from the skies and transforming itself with the species evolution.
The creatures explained they came from the sky, because they were fleeing an enemy and they also told him why they created life on Earth. Their aim was to hide themselves assuming many different forms. Before Harner, the magnificence of the creation of plants and animals - many thousand years of activity - so vivid that it would be really impossible to describe. Harner learned that those "dragon-like creatures" were hiding themselves in all life forms, including man.

Narby became obsessed with something Harner said. In the end of the report, Harner made a footnote: "Retrospectively, one could say that they almost have the appearance of the DNA, though, at that time (1961) I knew nothing about DNA."
Jeremy Narby reasons: "There is DNA inside the human brain, as well as in the world outside it, the plants' world, the life molecule carrying genetic information is the same for all species. So, the DNA can be regarded as a Source of Information, which is internal and external. In other words, it is exactly what I was thinking the day before, in the forest, while walking around to relax."
Narby found other notes by Harner explaining that "dragon" and "serpent" are synonyms. That made him think that the double helix reminds, in form, two entwined serpents. The shamans always refer to "SEEING THE SHAPE OF THINGS", for they reveal hidden secrets.


Mythology

Narby avidly studied Lévi-Strauss, Mircéa Eliade, Joseph Campbell and other mythologists. He found the world of the shamans, and of all cultures, was similar to the world of every and each mythology on Earth: the "divine twins, carriers of the KNOWLEDGE - the motif of twined creatures of heavenly origin, called life creators. The word COATL, of Aztec origin (Quetzalcoatl) means both "twin" and "serpent" -- Quetzalcoatl may be translated in two ways: "plumed serpent" and "twin".
Narby began to understand that the "Twin Serpents" he saw under the effect of ayahuasca were the two parts of the DNA double helix.

The DNA has still significant secrets unknown to the "civilized" occidentals, which are less than respectfully called as "junk DNA". As the biologists do not know its real function, they pretend to ignore it. Narby calls that DNA "mysterious DNA". The genetic code within human genome is made up of 3% of its total DNA - the remaining 97%, the function of which is unknown - is dismissed as "junk" DNA: acacacacacacacacac....

Carefully examining the shape of the "Cosmic Serpent", Jeremy Narby found the Egyptians did not use to draw a serpent, a true reptile; instead, they left us a visually meaningful charade: a "double serpent" watching ANKH, the Ansata cross, a symbol of life. Another Egyptian drawing shows us a serpent with legs and human feet, and the Benin's Ouroborous is described as IMAGO MUNDI, an association of opposites enclosing the primordial oceans where it floats, showing the earth it protects. In India, Sesha is the gigantic cosmic boa where Vishnu and his wife, Lakshimi, are resting in the eternity in between the creation cycles.
The shamans on and off draw either Ronin, the Cosmic Serpent, or the life serpent. Ronin is also depicted with two heads, similarly to the DNA DOUBLE HELIX.
Narby found other similarities between the Cosmic Serpents and the DNA. The SERPENT lives in the water and can be either very small or immense, either simple or double, exactly as the DNA is described.

In his acclaimed book, the author supplies precious details on molecular biology, to completely justify his hypothesis.
Jeremy Narby's hypothesis claims that what is called DNA by the scientists correspond to the "animated essences" which communicate with the shamans and bring them knowledge on any subject in every field.
The shamans, under an altered state of consciousness, reach the molecular level. There are questions: What happens then? What is the nature of the communication with those animated essences?
To correctly answer those questions, in-depth researches must be carried out on consciousness and shamanism, molecular biology and its interactions. This cannot be done if we use rationalism, because it breaks up things to study them and that fragmentation eventually has limited perspectives and "blind spots". Those "blind spots" must be examined, because they also contain vital information. Science cannot not succeed in totally apprehend true reality if it does not change the way of facing the facts. One must face them in order to know where they fit.

"When I began reading molecular biology literature, I was appalled with some descriptions… then, my investigation led me to the consider the DNA and all its cellular inner workings was an extremely sophisticated technology of cosmic origins."
And Narby also found out a world of fiction science within molecular biology jargons: proteins and enzymes described as "miniature robots", ribosomes as "molecular computers", the cell referred to as "manufacture plants". The DNA itself is referred to as TEXT, PROGRAM, LANGUAGE, DATA.


The "twisted-twisted" language

The shamans have a language used in the ayahuasca canticles, totally incomprehensible for the non-initiated: The "Koshuiti", a literal imitation of the spirits language. Graham Townsley, has recently written a paper on the songs by the yaminahua, Peruvian shamans, and translated lines, as "tsai yoshtoyoshto", literally as "twisted-twisted language". The word "twist" has the same root as two and twin. Technically, it means "double and twined".
What do the yaminahua shamans say about their language? "With my 'Koshuiti' I wish to 'see singing'. I examine things carefully - the language brings me closer, but not so close - with normal language, I break myself into pieces inside tings - with the twisted language, I orbit around things, I can see them clearly and understand them." That language perfectly matches the DNA language. The DNA is a DOUBLE TEXT, DOUBLE and twined. In other words, it is like the language -- twisted-twisted, a doubled-doubled twined language and identical to the "twisted" language of the spirits of nature.


The Connections

The connections between the Cosmic Serpent of all peoples on Earth and the DNA act in all levels.
The DNA is serpent-like, it is both doubled and one; it is the vital power which evolves from the one to the diverse and water is its home.
